SummaryThis is an opportunity under the Internship Program component of the Pathways Programs. The Internship Program provides students enrolled in high schools, colleges, trade schools and other qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while completing their education. Learn more about this agency ResponsibilitiesThis position is located in the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) which is responsible for advocating for small and disadvantaged businesses to help increase contract and subcontract awards to women-owned small businesses (WOSB), small disadvantaged businesses (SDB), service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB), and businesses located in Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones). The OSDBU advises the NSF Director on all matters related to small business and collaborates with leadership throughout the Foundation to maximize opportunities for small and disadvantaged business in our acquisitions and supports policies, procedures, and training programs for the Foundation to emphasize our commitment to contracting with small businesses. Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt. You must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. You must be taking at least half-time course load. It is NSF policy that NSF personnel employed at or IPAs detailed to NSF are not permitted to participate in foreign government talent recruitment programs. Failure to comply with this NSF policy could result in disciplinary action up to and including removal from Federal Service or termination of an IPA assignment and referral to the Office of Inspector General. Foreign Talent Definitions Eligible students must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited academic institution & maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher. Students may be hired for Internship positions at any time during the year, & may work full-time or part-time based on office needs. Students will be on indefinite appointments during their period of eligibility under the Internship Program. Interns will be required to sign an agreement that outlines the parameters of the Internship Program. The Internship Program allows students an opportunity to be converted non-competitively to a career-conditional or term position once the student completes all requirements of the Internship Program. Noncompetitive conversion to a permanent or term position is NOT guaranteed. The Intern's eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that the agency will opt for conversion. Interns may be required to submit updated transcripts and proof of enrollment upon selection. Examples of specialized experience include: using software packages to prepare spreadsheets and word processing documents; assisting with coordinating participants, space, and materials for meetings; maintaining filing systems; reviewing correspondence and documents to ensure proper format; assisting with making travel arrangements; and maintaining supervisor's daily calendar of appointments;OR completed one full semester of graduate level (9 semester hours) education.To qualify at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include the following: interpreting and applying regulations, policies and procedures to perform a variety of administrative support duties; developing and maintaining spreadsheets and other financial records; developing work tracking systems to ensure timely completion of work assignments; coordinating and making travel arrangements; composing/typing reports in final;OR completed one full academic year of graduate level education;OR have eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision: Achievement of Baccalaureate Degree and in the upper one-third of your graduating class or a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript, or based on courses completed during your final 2 years.OR have a combination of education and experience.EducationEducation may be substituted for experience as described in "Qualifications."All Education must be accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.)
