Job Description

OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Our top-rated summer internship program is designed to give college students relevant work experience in specific functions, providing a deeper understanding of the processes of a Fortune 500 organization. The program offers interesting challenges, valuable experience, and an opportunity to get to know Thrivent. This 12-week internship is a key piece of Thrivent's entry-level talent program to ensure a strong talent pipeline to meet the needs of the organization now and into the future. The internship program offers assignments to refine your skills and experience while giving you exposure to multiple business areas.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a DevOps Engineer Intern, you will work closely with various team members within Thrivent to build creative technical solutions to take on complex problems. You will be immersed with our teams to assist and support the CI/CD/RM/DevOps to deliver business value, automate & optimize time to market with improved quality. DevOps engineers are responsible for implementing DevOps principles at an enterprise level. Besides the engineering/technical tasks the engineers will also work on adding visibility to technical debt and increasing software delivery speed, quality, and efficiency across the enterprise.

  • Work with application team(s) and coordinate application & infra major and minor releases.

  • Participate in application Release cycles, and coordinate Release activities in Production Release environments

  • Partner with development and operations teams to develop practical automation solutions and custom modules

  • Write code and scripts to automate provisioning of services and to configure services using Cloud technologies and scripting languages

  • Configure build pipelines to support automated testing and deployments using tools including Configuration and Build Management tools to test code quality. You'll configure these pipelines for specific products and help optimize them for performance and scalability.

  • Troubleshoot issues in production and other environments, applying debugging and problem-solving techniques (e.g., log analysis, non-invasive tests), working closely with Development, QE teams.

  • Suggest deployment patterns & practices improvements based on learnings from past deployments and production issues, collaborate with DevOps team to implement these

  • Promote a DevOps culture, including building relationships with other technical and business teams

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently a junior in an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or MIS

  • A proven history of excellent academic performance (GPA 3.0+)

  • Disciplined, with strong personal management and organization skills

  • Strong problem identification and analytical skills

  • High technical proficiency

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills

  • A proven teammate with high technical capability

  • Open to intern in our offices full-time during normal business hours

  • Ability to work in the United States for indefinite period without sponsorship
