We are offering an internship within our Enterprise Data Governance group next summer for our program that will run from June 6th to August 12th in 2022 in Chicago, IL. This internship is part of our Data Governance and Operations team. Below are the brief details of this 10-week opportunity.
Data Governance and Operations
The Data Governance Ops Management team at UScellular is seeking a summer intern for their Chicago location. Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) provides oversight governance of practices and processes which help to ensure the formal management of data assets within the organization, many of which are achieved in a matrix management organizational structure. This organization also provides platform and process management for both business side and technical side metadata management.
Metadata, Data Lineage, Business Glossary and data quality are the main topics that the team supports. The intern for this role will work with the team on projects to leverage their skills to incorporate a data lineage tool as well as other projects and activities that support data enablement. Will get experience working with Erwin Informatica ETL tool, Oracle db, Hadoop, and other tools.

Requirements
- Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or Business Administration or related technical field
- Experience with standard MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required
- Basic understanding of SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) is helpful
- Knowledge of technology structures: networks, databases, communications systems and internet
- Ability to participate and work well in cross-functional teams
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship(s) in Data Governance, Information Management, Data Management, or relevant training / experience highly preferred.
- Candidates pursuing degree concentrations in Data related fields such as Business Intelligence, Big Data, Data Science, Information Systems.
- Experience with and/or understanding of Data enablement, Data Governance, Big Data and Business Intelligence for the Enterprise as a whole.
- Experience with and/or understanding of Relational Databases and Big Data systems
- Experience with and/or understanding of Data Governance
Location Requirements
- This internship will be offered only in our Chicago, IL location.
- No housing or living expenses provided with this internship.
