Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Utilities Operation Worker for the division of Institutional Planning and Operations.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Under general supervision,
  • Will be required to perform manual duties which are but no limited to: excavation hand work, scaffolding erection, general maintenance, painting, trench shoring installation, and working with other trades when required.
  • Will also be required to have general operational knowledge of sewer jetting and vacuum unit, skid steer, trencher, compaction equipment, telehandler, and snow removal equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent.
  • Requires 3 years documented experience in utility and excavation experience.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A is required.
  • Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.
  • This position requires drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal law. Requires good communication skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions from other trades when required.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to follow and understand utility markout designations.
