Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for major public and private clients in the New York Metro area, including NYC, Long Island and northern NJ. This individual will be materially responsible for leading, delivering and performing quality control on projects in our large and growing practice. The candidate will be responsible for the technical design and multidisciplinary coordination of projects with a range of construction values in a variety of structural systems. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in design of structures (utilizing the building codes) and coordination with other disciplines.

Responsibilities
    Leads, mentors and assigns tasks to mid-level and junior engineers.
  • Assists with preparing scope, budget, and schedule of projects.
  • Assists with supervising project budget and delivering per schedule.
  • Performs quality control by checking structural drawings and calculations originated by other engineers.
  • Assists with proposals to pursue new projects.
  • Coordinates structural design with designs of other disciplines in the project, including Geotechnical, Architectural and MEP.
  • Communicates effectively with client and contractor in writing and in meetings.
  • Attends site visits and field inspections to evaluate existing conditions of structures.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Master's degree in Structural Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience required.
  • Experience with design of Rail Stations is a plus.
  • Project Management experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Building Codes including IBC, ASCE7, AISC and ACI.
  • Working knowledge of structural design and detailing using steel, concrete and masonry materials.
  • Experience in developing scope, budget and schedule for projects is a plus.
  • Experience with Design-Build project delivery is a plus.
  • Must be a licensed PE.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Must be a self-motivated with initiative, drive and determination.
  • A clean driving record is required.
