Position Summary:
The Aquatics Coordinator is directly responsible for the on-site management of the Wellness & Event Center (WEC) Pool. This includes overseeing pool maintenance and ensuring that pool operations are compliant with local, state, and national requirements. Reporting directly to the Sr. Associate Athletic Director, the Coordinator will be charged with developing a comprehensive recreational aquatics program that includes revenue generation through external group rentals. In addition to the managing the pool schedule, the Coordinator will hire, train, and supervise the student lifeguard staff. The Coordinator will serve as the on-site supervisor for aquatic events which requires a flexible work schedule that will include some evening and weekend coverage.

Essential Functions:
1. Implement and oversee a comprehensive aquatics program for the University community that includes students, staff, and faculty. Additional functions include:
- Collaborate with the Senior Associate Athletic Director on policy development, implementation, and risk management.
- Oversee and coordinate the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, certification, and daily supervision of the student lifeguard staff. Manage student payroll.
- Coordinate the pool schedule for all aquatics programming including collegiate practices, physical education classes, recreational swim, group fitness classes, campus events, rental groups, and summer camps.
- Engage in the creation and dissemination of promotional materials including social media platforms and the department's web pages.
- Recommend, submit and manage the aquatic budget for the WEC Pool including recommending the purchasing of equipment for the pool.
- Coordinate meet operations for NJIT's DI Men's Swim & Dive program.
- Assist with summer camp coordination.
- Monitor the pool and sports medicine hydrotherapy pools for proper mechanical operation and chemical levels. Ensure pool & deck cleanliness and troubleshoot issues pertaining to the pool.
- Teach aquatic related Physical Education classes.
- Maintain certifications in First aid, CPR/AED, Lifesaving, and CPO.

2. Develop and coordinate external group rentals as a revenue source for the department and the university.
- Oversee the marketing and promotion of the WEC Pool and swim programs to all local constituencies including; campus, alumni, City of Newark, Essex County, and other New Jersey communities.
- Cultivate rental opportunities with external groups.
- Generate contracts and invoices for external rentals.
- Run clinics and summer camps as needed for the University and local community, as approved by the Athletic Director.

3. Contribute to the planning and development of the department as a member of the administrative team.
- Manage venue setups, breakdowns, event staffing, and meet management for NJIT collegiate Swim & Dive competitions.
- Additional administrative duties may include assisting with building manager duties, special events, athletics events, and special projects as needed.

Additional Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Previous experience in aquatic management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students required.
- Creative problem solver.
- Must possess the ability to foster a cooperative environment.
- Must be able to organize and coordinate.
- Must have the ability to understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, Google applications, recreation management software and social media tools including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including some evening and weekends.
- Red Cross AED/CPR and First Aid certification.
- Requires Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor certification, Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree Preferred.
- Collegiate competitive swim or dive experience.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
