Job Summary

L'Oreal USA Research & Innovation is seeking a highly organized Junior EHS Associate for a 12-month internship. Under direct supervision, the Junior Associate performs basic and routine duties in a wide range of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) disciplines, to achieve compliance with the L'Oreal EHS standards along with local, federal and state regulatory requirements.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of EHS programs, systems and procedures
  • Maintain record keeping of all incidents and prepare event notifications and root-cause analysis of lost time and restricted duty cases. Evaluate incident reports, determine types of incidents and create and update trend reports and graphs
  • Maintain environmental and safety statistics data on a monthly basis
  • Oversee and conduct ergonomic assessments and assist with follow-up actions
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and follow up on action items
  • Participate in improvement of processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards
  • Assist in the preparation of standard EHS training presentations
  • Maintain the EHS website
  • Participate in risk assessments (Safety Hazard Assessment Procedures (SHAPs))
  • Special projects as assigned, including, but not limited to EHS Week and Sustainability Week
  • Participate in various EHS training programs to develop general knowledge
  • Assist in maintaining sustainability initiatives
  • Involvement in new hire safety training materials
  • Assist with corrective actions from site audits for NJ locations

Education/Experience

Must have graduated from a 4 year undergraduate college or university within the last year with a concentration in Health Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety or related scientific discipline. Educational history must be continuous and no breaks greater than five months between diploma/degrees received. This role is set to start as soon as possible onsite in Clark, NJ.
