Job Description Summary
The Tax Operations Manager is responsible for the review of the U.S. federal and state income tax returns and associated processes. This position will also be heavily involved with supporting the quarterly and annual tax provision process. This is a hands-on role, interacting and collaborating with internal finance partners to ensure the timely and accurate execution of tax department responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

* Review separate & consolidated corporate income tax returns for federal and state jurisdictions and associated processes.

* Review partnership federal and state annual tax returns and associated processes.

* Review income tax provisions on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis providing rate reconciliations and deviation explanations.

* Assists in tax accounting implications of acquisitions and dispositions.

* Performs thorough tax accounting technical research in complex areas.

* Responsible for the management, monitoring, and calculation of US international calculations for reporting and tax compliance. This includes, but is not limited to FDII, GILTI, Subpart F, BEAT, & 163(j).

* Risk & controls - reviewing processes, building out a controls framework and risk policies suitable for the group with a continuous improvement mindset seeking out innovative solutions.

* Reviews new tax legislation and reporting standards and advises on the implications for the effective tax rate, cash forecasts and disclosures, updating relevant stakeholders as appropriate.

* Supports across a range of diverse and critical projects across the region including, cross-border financing, M&A, restructuring, to optimize the tax situation (cash tax and ETR) and to reduce tax exposures.

* Responsible for FATCA Compliance and maintaining W- and W-9 forms for all units within and out of the US.

* Provide support for ongoing IRS and state/city tax audits.

Required experience and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA and/or master's degree is desirable
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in U.S. federal and state income/franchise taxation required.
  • Experience with Corptax tax preparation products preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate understanding of Accounting for Income Taxes & Uncertain Tax Positions
  • Shipping/Transportation experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and collaboration skills
  • Detail orientated, proven commitment to high quality delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Flexible, able to work to deadlines and to prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to think and act strategically while being able to execute on operational deliverables
