The practice population includes a variety of complex urogynecologic patients from throughout the southern NJ region. Employment includes an academic appointment with CMSRU, commensurate with academic and research experience. The practice enjoys a very strong relationship with a variety of subspecialty services including Urology, Colorectal, Plastics, GI, Gynecologic Oncology and General Surgery.


Short Description

Cooper University Health Care (CUHC) and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), Department of Ob/Gyn, Division of Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery are actively committed to diversity at all levels of the organization and are seeking a Board-Certified Urogynecologist at the Associate Professor level or above to join the faculty as Division Head. The division supports an established and growing hospital-based practice consisting of 3 full time and 1 part time faculty, along with 4 full time affiliate faculty at Christiana Care Health System. Additional staff include 2 advanced practice nurses. This supports a 4-person fellowship with no citations. The practice is expanding and will have an additional location in Moorestown along with the Voorhees location.

The faculty practice in Urogynecology includes the care of women from a variety of demographic areas in both the inpatient and outpatient arenas. The cornerstone of the practice is the development of long-standing physician-physician and physician-patient relationships. Surgical procedures are performed both in the hospital and in our outpatient surgical center.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills and continue to foster the ongoing sense of teamwork within the division. In maintaining the strong commitment to teaching and mentoring, the candidate will lead in our mission of education by teaching fellows, residents and medical students. The candidate is expected to have a proven record in academics and will build upon and expand research activity. Finally, in building and expanding the division in caring for diverse patients, the candidate will share Cooper's mission "To Serve, To Heal, To Educate."

  • Quality/HRO
  • Participate in Quality & Safety, Morbidity & Mortality, Peer Review and Regulatory Compliance/Survey Preparedness.
  • Experience
  • Develop clinical protocols, policies, and guidelines relating to the Service which are in the best interest of Patient Safety, Quality of Care, Patient Satisfaction, and the needs of CUHC.
    • Participate in annual policy review
    • Lead policy implementation efforts and monitor adherence
  • Serve as a liaison to surgeons and other medical specialties, nursing, and administration as it relates to the Clinical Service of the Department
  • Develop specific service goals and develop and implement strategies to obtain them.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation a Division Plan for Provider Engagement
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts for the Division
  • Facilitate and promote Faculty Development Efforts within the Division
  • Engage in Leadership Rounding for Division
  • Organize/Monitor the clinical coverage schedule to ensure proper clinical coverage of the Division in a fair and transparent fashion

  • Growth & Finance
          • Work with institute leadership to maintain maximal operational efficiency, especially as it relates to capacity, access, and patient flow in a fashion which integrates the priorities of patient safety and satisfaction in a fiscally responsible fashion
          • Ensure that our clinical practice as it relates to the Service is fiscally responsible and lead cost savings efforts
          • Participate in strategic planning for growth of the clinical service line
          • Lead Divisional efforts to ensure that productivity targets are met
          • Lead Department cost savings efforts
          • Lead Department Operational Efficiency initiatives
          • Lead efforts to ensure that operations of the Department are within the approved budget
          • Ensure that coding of all billable activity is optimized to facilitate collection of professional service and facility fees
          • Participate in development of the annual Capital Budget in a responsible fashion

Education Requirements

  1. Personal Development
    • Division Heads should be at or above the Associate Professor level and actively participate in CMSRU/CUHC Faculty Development Efforts
  2. Scholarly Development: Develop and encourage Departmental clinical research themes that integrate the priorities of CUHC, CMSRU, the fellowship and residency programs.
    • Research leading to publication and extramural funding
    • Development of CME Symposia
    • Society and Committee membership and participation at state and national level
    • Give lectures and presentations at other institutions and meetings
    • Book and book chapter publication
    • Include our students and residents in all academic activity
    • Develop academic and educational synergies with other Divisions and Departments.
  3. Education:
    • Create a positive learning environment with particular attention to "on stage behavior", professionalism, integrity, respect of others
    • Support the fellowship program director in assuring needs of fellows and ACGME are met
    • Develop and support a sustainable research infrastructure within the division
