Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.

POSITION SUMMARY

TRC is soliciting applications from highly motivated, qualified individuals to fill a Wetland Scientist/Lead Wetland Delineator position on our Planning, Permitting, and Licensing Practice. The Wetland Scientist/Lead Wetland Delineator can report to the New Providence, NJ or Mount Laurel, NJ offices, the New York, New York office, or the Philadelphia, PA office (with an option to work remotely). The Wetland Scientist/Lead Wetland Delineator position would have an emphasis in environmental planning and permitting for a variety of projects and clients in the areas of energy, utilities development, and transportation.


Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • The successful applicant will be involved in a wide variety of projects including electric generation and transmission, renewable energy projects and pipeline projects.
  • Applicants must have the ability to lead and conduct wetland delineations and technical writing of Wetland Delineation reports and functional assessments as well as diverse biological field work with minimal supervision and have familiarity with Trimble GPS and GIS.
  • Perform sensitive species management, construction monitoring, environmental permitting, and technical writing.
  • Assist with a mix of biological natural resource related field and office tasks and assure each assignment follows the project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • The position may entail short-term and long-term field assignments; therefore, the candidate must be willing and physically able to travel and work outdoors in rough and remote terrain under challenging environmental conditions; and have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience performing environmental monitoring and SWPPP inspections for construction projects, interacting in the field with clients and other contractors, and managing budgets and schedules is a plus.
  • The successful applicant will have experience in preparing and/or managing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation. Direct NJDEP permitting experience is required. New York SEQRA, Article VII, Section 94-c, and PaDEP experience is also desirable.
  • Will function as a staff member for preparing NEPA biological resource related documentation and technical studies. Work could also include project compliance management for quality control/assurance, budget and timeframe/milestone management, and proposal support.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania or other state Wetland Scientist Certification, or Professional Wetland Scientist Certification.
  • Knowledge of the following: Northeastern flora and fauna, plant species identification, wetland field delineation, natural resource inventory, construction-related erosion and sedimentation control practices, post-construction restoration monitoring, and wildlife habitat assessments.

Preference will also be given to applicants that have experience working on energy, renewable, and transportation projects, as well as solid experience with New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania state and local permitting and siting.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $85,000 - $115,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
