We are seeking an enthusiastic and results-driven Senior Finance Analyst to join our growing Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD) finance team. In this role, you will provide strategic business support to VMRD as well as partner with business and finance stakeholders across the organization. This role provides key stakeholders with the analysis and information they need to make operational, financial, and strategic decisions, and ensures that financial reporting is accurate and internal controls are followed. This includes month-end close activities and accruals, project expense analysis, capital project management, support with preparation of budget updates to leadership, participation the periodic forecast and annual operating plan processes, preparation of financial models, audit support, and ad-hoc analysis as requested by the business or finance. You will play a key role in automation and process improvement, as well as the integration of new businesses and systems. There is a high degree of interaction with project management and operations teams. This position provides a unique opportunity to support the project teams that develop the products that make Zoetis the leading animal health company in the world.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure accurate and timely analysis and recognition of expense for global VMRD projects, including monthly accruals, audit response, and support to/collaboration with Project Management colleagues
  • Month-end close activities including working with business partners for accruals and submission of regularly-occurring journal entries and reclasses/allocations
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • Prepare variance analyses to explain differences between actual and budgeted results and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Capital project creation, tracking and close-out
  • Assist with preparation of monthly leadership budget updates including dashboards and visualizations using data visualization tools
  • Support the preparation and submission of quarterly forecasts and annual Operating Plans, including consolidation and reconciliation of inputs from global teams, identification of risks and opportunities, and preparation of bridge updates from prior forecasts and prior year
  • Identify, propose and implement process improvements, simplification, and automation opportunities
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed to support business needs
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Zoetis policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations; respond timely to SOX, flux and audit requests
  • Ensure an effective internal control environment.

Education and experience:

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5 years post qualification experience
  • Knowledge of financial statements and fiscal calendars
  • Experience with large amounts of data within Excel
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Experience in the Animal Health industry is considered an asset
  • Experience with R&D accounting is considered an asset

  • This role is hybrid remote with on-site locations at either our Parsippany, NJ corporate headquarters or Kalamazoo, MI global R&D headquarters.
  • Minimal travel required depending on home office location
