The Cash Application Specialist role is responsible for properly applying payments to customer accounts in accordance with the Companies' policy and procedures. They will ensure all cash postings are done in a timely and accurate manner and reconciled to the bank activity. This role requires great attention to detail, along with being able to work in multiple systems and manage a high volume of data entry.

Candidate will be required to work in our Somerset, NJ location on a Hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

    Prepare and post the daily batch processing of cash receipts, via Check, Wire, ACH and Credit Card payments accurately applying payments to all invoices listed on customer remittances
  • Reconcile lockboxes, wire transfers, credit cards, and live checks entered in the system to the bank on a daily basis
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies with collections team, including contacting customers if the payment does not include a remittance or payment information is incomplete
  • Scan backup and link documents to the appropriate general ledger transactions and/or documents
  • Process credit card payments received via email inbox
  • Track and follow up on unapplied payments, assisting the Collections team in resolving
  • Ensure timely resolution to any unidentified receipts
  • Ensure proper cash application of customer prepayment
  • May perform miscellaneous tasks/projects as directed by Supervisor or AR manager.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and credit related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Demonstrates a high degree of organization, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet productivity goals and deadlines
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Commitment to outstanding customer service, including the ability to effectively research and resolve payment inquiries internally or externally
