The Job

Architect, Infrastructure Operations is a new role at Own reporting to our Director, SRE/DevOps. We are seeking someone who will design and implement best in class designs and practices across the SaaS application and infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability of systems and applications, and streamline workflow of DevOps.

This individual is responsible for availability, reliability, performance, monitoring and ensuring appropriate incident response for infrastructure and applications across 14 regions globally, multiple SaaS applications, and supporting over 6,000 customers.

Your Day-to-Day Role
  • Define cloud architecture best practices and establish guidelines for development and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate cloud services into application architectures seamlessly.
  • Optimize cloud resources to maximize performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.
  • Provide design reviews for engineering teams to ensure their systems are observable, scalable and reliable and subsequently perform Production Readiness Reviews before new features or products are introduced to production.
  • Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, addressing performance issues and resolving technical challenges proactively.
  • Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on our platform and making recommendations for adoption.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior members of the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Serve as a thought leader in the field of cloud architecture, actively contributing to industry forums, conferences, and publications.
  • Share insights and best practices with internal teams and clients, guiding them on cloud adoption strategies and architectural decisions.
  • Perform Incident Commander duties where required.

  • Prioritization: Can manage multiple projects at once. Excellent judgment and prioritization of work with the ability to accurately estimate work effort, break down work to smaller segments and deliver within agreed upon timelines.
  • Risk Management: Can assess risk, develop, and propose risk mitigations to leadership and impacted stakeholders.
  • Program Management: Ability to organize and plan initiatives around new technology adoption, architecture innovation, and other strategic priorities.
  • SME: Defines the subject matter expertise of product architecture, infrastructure architecture and the tools used across the dev/test/production environments with the ability to train other engineers.
  • Delegation: Delegates important tasks to peers and subordinates.
Your Work Experience
  • Must have minimum 12 years of experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer, SRE, Infrastructure Engineer, Platform Architect or equivalent
  • Advanced AWS, Azure or Kubernetes Architecture Certification required.AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification
  • Experience defining roadmap for organizations
  • Passion to learn cutting edge technology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work and coordinate between multiple teams, ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Linux / Unix
  • Experience working with B2B SaaS, live production environments
  • Extensive experience with public cloud technologies - AWS and Azure experience preferred. AWS GovCloud experience is a plus.
  • Experience with configuration management systems Ansible and Terraform
  • Experience in CI/CD and related tooling (Gitlab and Jenkins)
  • Experience with Containerization (Docker, K8s)
  • Experience in one or more of the following scripting languages: Bash, Python, Ruby
  • Experience working in a Global, 24x7x365 organization
  • Fluent in English - working with global teams
Important Details

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of ourEnglewood Cliffs, NJ office a minimum of 3 days per week to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. Travel may be required.
