Summary of Position

This position is accountable for monitoring the daily functions of the production lines and supporting systems with specific regard given to the maintenance and modification of the PLC, robotic, and HMI controls. The position will also be responsible to provide daily guidance & assistance to the Production and Maintenance departments for the troubleshooting of all equipment issues.

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the production lines and assist the electrical technicians during any equipment related downtime. However, the successful candidate will also be responsible for completing individual projects that have been assigned by the manager. When the production lines do not require assistance from the Sr. Technician it is expected that individual project work is being completed. The successful candidate is expected to be proactive and seek out work from the manager during periods of inactivity or when projects have been completed.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Troubleshoot automation related issues with production line equipment via the use of PLC interface software.
  • Work closely with the Production and Electrical Maintenance to achieve company goals in efficiency and LTY.
  • Record all work into the online issue tracking software SAP.
  • Complete individual assignments relating to optimization/improvements of existing equipment and implementation of new equipment.
  • Overtime and some travel may be required.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Comply with company policies.
  • Possess high degree of initiative, creativity, communication skills, self-supervision, and respect for safety requirements.
  • Must be a team player & work closely with maintenance, production, engineering, and outside services.
  • Mainly a daywork schedule but could possibly be adjusted depending on the business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Educational Requirements

  • Associates or Technical degree in a related field with a minimum of five (5) years' experience or bachelor's degree in engineering, 1-3 years' experience in manufacturing environment; or any equivalent relevant combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Mechanical experience recommended.
  • Experience with the operation of production machinery is preferred.
  • Understanding of PLC's and controls is a must.
  • Must have a strong electrical aptitude.
  • Should know how to interpret industrial control programming languages (i.e. Ladder Logic)
  • Demonstrated Ability knowledge of PLC Control Application Software.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge in Instrument and Control Loops.
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Must be able to work on systems operating at 480 volts AC and 600 volts DC and below
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair existing electrical systems and equipment by following electrical drawings and using test instruments.
  • Experience with AC & DC motors & drives. Understand how a speed loop and feedback functions in a drive.
  • Experience working with computers on industrial networks and virtual machines.
