This highly visible leadership position has been designed for an executive marketing professional to oversee and empower an incredible team of individuals while owning critical responsibilities for Otsuka's CNS franchise in the US. This role will be responsible for working in close collaboration with internal partners, global affiliates, and alliance partners to cover a robust portfolio and pipeline in the CNS space.

Job Description

  • Leading and Empowering
    • Build on a collaborative environment that is conducive to intentional development, and supports individuals as well as teams to achieve their full potential and maximize their contribution to deliver the Otsuka mission
      • Provide coaching and access to mentoring and developmental mechanisms to build confidence and courage
      • Generate enthusiasm and excitement in the team to ensure they can see the connection to the patient
      • Attract, manage, coach, develop and retain a talented Marketing team to effectively achieve the mission and stated objectives
    • Ensuring a highly engaged team culture
    • Communicate regularly with the Executive Leadership Team
  • Collaboration:
    • Build internal and external networks and navigate complex stakeholder ecosystems to align around common aims
    • Lead a collaborative, productive relationship between Alliance Partners and Otsuka's marketing teams
    • Work closely with the VP of CNS Sales and field-based Customer Engagement teams to develop integrated and holistic strategies and solutions for patients and providers.
      • Build new marketing capabilities that will allow for innovation and growth.
    • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to shape and deliver objectives and to unite around a shared purpose
  • Drives for Results:
    • Lead, develop, communicate, and deliver the US CNS portfolio strategy
      • Communicate a vision, set priorities, develop and execute plans that consistently achieves desired outcomes for the CNS franchise
      • Build and sustain a portfolio designed to be the engine that drives Otsuka through the coming decades
        • Develop strategic asset plans including launch readiness, brand strategy, annual tactical plans, and budgets, as well as medium to long term plans that optimize assets over time.
        • Deliver on several successful launches that results in significant contribution to overall brand growth (including new iddication and product launches over the next 12- 36 months)
      • Actively contribute to market planning efforts, including forecasting, market research, and competitiveintelligence
    • Strategic and executional responsibility to ensure commercial and non-commercial functions are aligned and delivering on key brand imperatives for two flagship brands with multiple indications / formulations
      • Work in an Alliance Partnership to maximize market potential for in-line indications as well as build launch strategy and market readiness for additional indications
    • Hold responsibilities for meeting/exceeding brand financial targets both in sales and operating income
    • Cross-functional and organizational leadership to optimize work processes, effectively develop and execute brand strategy, and effectively monitor and evaluate performance
    • Work closely with medical leadership and field-based Customer Engagement teams to build effective and compliant collaboration covering KOL planning and engagement, publication planning, HEOR planning and medical education plans
    • Develop and manage annual operating budgets
    • Contribute to decisions related to business development opportunities
  • Thinking Strategically
    • Reimagine how internal Centers of Excellence can effectively work across the CNS franchise (ex, Omnichannel, Consumer, Regional Marketing, Telepsychiatry...)
    • Take a broad perspective across the healthcare ecosystem to understand the patient journey and patient flow and how Otsuka can influence stakeholder decisions and patient experience to improve patient outcomes
      • Bring a positive future-oriented perspective to spot opportunities for improvement and translate them into adaptive customer specific strategies to drive Otsuka's vision and plan
      • Lead commercial input into long-range development and commercialization strategies for inline and pipeline products
  • Customer Centricity
    • Define and continually refine how to partner and support patients, HCPs and other stakeholders to best meet their needs
    • Maintain strong relations with key opinion leaders and leaders of important initiatives
    • Align across the organization to create an orchestrated customer experience that is impactful, differentiating and creates joint value.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or post-graduate degree desirable
  • 15+ years of commercial experience, ideally spanning product launch, marketing, sales, market access and market analysis experience within the US pharmaceutical industry
  • High level of intellectual curiosity combined with strong strategic and analytical skills
  • Extensive experience with developing and executing marketing strategies and tactics, market research and analysis and business forecasting
  • Strong executive leadership skills, communication, presentation and business partnering ability
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and decisive environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a positive, collaborative manner
  • Agility and flexibility to work in a newly designed customer engagement model
  • High level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships
  • Strategic agility with the ability to analyze complex business issues and opportunities, adapt to evolving market and competitive dynamics, and utilize sound judgment to establish appropriate objectives
  • Able to create a learning environment, successfully works with individuals and teams through hands-on management to efficiently pilot new ideas and evaluate their merit to enhance strategy, execution, and performance

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial compliance and all laws and regulations that govern promotional and non-promotional activities
  • Current US work authorization required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Up to 30-50% travel is required*, based upon business needs.
