NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Public Posting POSTING #: 24-00085 TITLE: Division Director ISSUE DATE: 3/5/2024 TITLE CODE: CLOSING DATE: 3/26/2024 DIVISION: Office of Government & Community Relations LOCATION: Ewing UNIT: Office of Government & Community Relations SALARY: $138,000.00 DESCRIPTION The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is accepting applications for candidates interested in the position of Director, Office of Government & Community Relations. The Office of Government & Community Relations' (OCR) purpose is to promote and maintain an open exchange of communication between NJDOT and the public - consisting of elected officials, interested citizens and stakeholders related to NJDOT projects, operations and services. Additionally, OCR facilitates public involvement throughout the NJDOT project delivery process. OCR also handles NJDOT's formal and email correspondence and responds to constituent inquiries, concerns, or complaints. The OCR Director position reports to the Deputy Chief of Staff and works as part of and in collaboration with the members of various NJDOT interdisciplinary teams to bring projects to successful completion. The Director will also be responsible for staff management and development; they should help develop a positive workplace culture that emphasizes quality work, continuous improvement, and high performance. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of OCR, including but not limited to: * Preparation and/or oversight of the coordination, creation, and mailing of official public notices and letters of invitation to all affected parties. * Oversee the preparation and maintenance of the stakeholder database. * Maintain project status information, affording the opportunity to advise and direct public/private groups on transportation projects. * Promote community outreach through informal municipal visits. * Communicate community feedback to NJDOT management. * Schedule and conduct internal meetings with subject matter experts. * Schedule and conduct public information meetings related to NJDOT projects. * Ensure follow - up before and after every public forum. NJDOT currently offers a telework pilot program, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work at your primary residence outside of your assigned DOT work location. This program doesnot supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJDOT employees to establish, and maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. New hires will not be eligible for the telework pilot program until they successfully complete a 4 - month working test period. 1 REQUIREMENTS Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A Master's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field is preferred, and may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. Experience: Ten (10) years of related experience in the development and execution of community development programs, community relations, or project management related to community development. A minimum of three (3) years of which should include supervisory and/or managerial experience. Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license as occasional instate travel is required. PREFERRED SKILLS Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work with the public. Exceptional writing presentation and public speaking skills. Project planning and management. Experience writing and editing. Familiarity with government and/or transportation.
