Job Description
Perform the following job duties at an international boarding school:
  • Teach a range of students in Upper School Mandarin courses, following a curriculum guide;
  • Support first- and second-year ELL students to manage course expectations, especially in language-rich courses;
  • Embrace student-centered teaching practices and backward design in curriculum planning;
  • Favor a linguistic communicative approach where permanent interactions promote higher proficiency levels of students.
  • Create learning environments where students are challenged;
  • Foster the school community;
  • Demonstrate warmth, collegiality, humor, and industry in interactions with students and colleagues;
  • Lead at least two extracurricular and/or athletic endeavors in addition to classroom duties;
  • Contribute to school life outside of the classroom on a lively boarding school campus.
  • Provide support for English Language Learners
  • Understand the integration of the ELL program and how it ties into the course curriculum
  • Knowledge of Chinese-speaking cultures
  • Work with a variety of learning styles
  • Write and communicate in Mandarin and English
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education and 3 years of experience in job offered or 3 years of experience as a Teacher of ENL/ELL and Mandarin or any other job title performing the following job duties:
