POSITION SUMMARY

The Materials Planner will be responsible for the entry, submission and maintenance of purchase orders for raw materials and packaging components. Orders are generated based on customer demand, stock replenishment and management direction. This individual is responsible for monitoring inventory levels, managing timely replenishment and resolving issues and discrepancies. This role reports to the Internal Materials Network Manager and is based out of our Carneys Point, New Jersey location and is primarily a remote position.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Communicates with customers, internal and external, regarding material requirements and availability
  • Generates purchase orders, verifies, tracks and provides updates on delivery status, delays or discrepancies
  • Acts as a liaison between materials management and the various plant operations teams to support schedule adherence
  • Reviews inventory levels to ensure there is sufficient material on hand to support scheduled work orders, distribution transfers and safety stock levels
  • Establishes exception reporting, researches data discrepancies and takes corrective action as appropriate
  • Reviews action messages to ensure sufficient supply of materials for production requirements
  • Reconcile billing discrepancies of invoices to ensure timely payment is made to vendors or suppliers
  • Processes receipt of goods and reconciles paperwork as required
  • Responsible for analysis and interpretation of production and inventory yields
  • Ensure contract compliances, identify variances and resolve.
  • Escalates issues outside of job scope to Materials Manager for review and action
  • Identifies logistic process shortfalls and works with department to identify logistic process improvements
  • Advises Manager of issues or irregularities, utilizes independent judgment and discretion to identify trends, variances, and key issues and provides recommendations for adjustment
  • Communicates and coordinates with outside freezer facilities regarding inventories, warehouse releases and receipts, invoices and special projects
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules
  • Applies appropriate optimization methodologies to balance service level, inventory and resource utilization using advanced planning tools
  • Leads cross plant material supply opportunities and issues; this includes purchasing versus DRP, partial versus full truck delivery, where we store product, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • HS Diploma / GED (Bachelor's Degree, Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1-year related experience
  • Attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task, manage and prioritize a dynamic workload
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software; Computer savvy
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work professionally and diplomatically with a various internal departments and outside customers
  • Strong troubleshooting and issue resolution skills required
  • General knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, order processing, invoicing, and inventory control systems

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry
  • Experience in Manufacturing or production environment
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Ability to direct, coach and train others
  • Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.
