FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY:
This position reports directly to the Director, Technical Services with a strong dotted line into the SVP, Global Operations and to VP, Refrigerated Containers. This position will be responsible for the oversight and management of the refrigerated container ("Reefer") and generator set ("Gensets") fleets. The Manager of Technical Services will support Global Maintenance & Repair ("M&R")/depot cycle process, the development and enhancement of Triton's analytical capabilities with respect to Reefer and Gensets M&R, and in conjunction with the Director- Dry Van Technical Services spearhead the exploration, identification and implementation of Triton's long term depot management strategy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical oversight for Refrigerated Containers:
  • Overall cost management of repairs; working closely with IT, Business Analysis and Product Managers in devising better ways to measure Triton's Reefer and Genset fleet's Technical and Operational performance.
  • Provide training and on-going refreshers to our field Technical Managers and depots on inspection criteria and repair criteria.
  • Report on any and all aspects of refrigeration technologies and jurisdictional requirements for the operating and maintenance of the Reefer and Genset fleets.
  • Remain current on all changes related to reefer container technology, attend and conduct training with both Triton and 3rd party providers.
  • Liaise with Product Management (specifically refrigerated product management on dpp) on performance and cost matters.
  • Monitor cargo worthy ("CWCA") costs and drive upgrade costs to at, or below, 35% of the Institute of International Container Lessors ("IICL") estimate.
  • Manage 'commercial' decisions on disputed items.
  • Spend ample time in the field with the technical managers guiding, training and reinforcing standards.
  • Review, revise and publish M&R Standards, Guidelines and Technical Bulletins when required.
  • Coordinate global repair/retrofit programs.
  • Educate and support Triton's non-technical departments in agreement with the Reefer Product Management.
  • Direct technical support to the sales and lease account managers in mainly North, Central & South America. This could be expanded to a Global role later on.
Technical Services analytics:
  • Exceptional management of depot/regions not performing to standard.
  • Manage depot audits and inventory checks proactively.
  • Monitor quarterly Reefer machine warranty report issues and report to the Product management and the Procurement Department.
  • Liaise with Director - Dry Van Technical Services, IT and Business Development/Data Analytics on the evolution of best-in-practice data analytics and systems.
IV. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred;
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in reefer machineries and reefer boxes required
  • Detailed knowledge of container depot operations, surveying practices and container repairs
  • Must maintain IICL qualifications (can be done after starting in the position)
  • Strong product knowledge in quality management system, specification, materials, design and structural improvement is an advantage
  • Window OS and IT knowledge

  • Self-motivated with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English & Spanish languages a must
  • Integrous with high ethical value
  • Willingness to travel frequently, sometimes at short notice
  • Must be at a commutable distance (within 50 miles) to the Iselin, NJ or Houston, TX office.
  • We follow a hybrid working schedule of 3 days in the office (Monday - Wednesday).
