PLS Sample Management Technician I

This is a full-time onsite Sample Management Technician I position in Lebanon, NJ, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.


SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting, preserving, preparing, processing, and maintaining lab samples. This involves knowledge of fundamental lab support policies, programs, and practices while completing appropriate forms, documents, and databases. Much of this role will involve washing, sanitizing, organizing, and putting away glassware. It may include various forms of samples, such as biological, chemical, and related areas.


This is an entry-level role. We are willing to train someone without experience in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry. Experience in the fast food or retail industries is transferable. It will train and support someone with a positive and willing attitude to learn and grow.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for receiving shipments of samples and supplies; inspect deliveries to ensure they're not damaged. Upon receipt of samples, will remove them from the package and review that all client-provided paperwork (e.g., sample submission, method, purchase order, SDS, etc.) is present.
  • Enter samples into tracking software identifying the type of testing required.
  • Create an appropriate LTN job file indicating the testing to be performed and including appropriate paperwork and methods. Label all paperwork with the corresponding tracking number.
  • Label samples with applicable tracking numbers and store them in appropriate locations and conditions. Indicate on paperwork sample location.
  • Correspond with clients on questions and issues related to the samples
  • Ensures supplies are delivered to the appropriate parties.
  • Pull samples for disposition; complete necessary documentation and store them in the appropriate area.
  • Keep the area clear and orderly.
  • Perform necessary assignments as assigned by the manager.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; experience in related work is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. One year of experience in a lab or environmental setting is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Required Knowledge:

  • Fundamental principles, practices, and techniques of lab support.
  • Customer service principles and practices.
  • Fundamental methods to resolve lab support or technical problems, questions, and concerns.
  • Computer applications and systems related to the work.
  • Principles and practices to serving as an effective project team member.
  • Methods to communicate with staff, coworkers, and customers to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate operations.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Required Skills:

  • Performing fundamental lab support duties in assigned areas.
  • Providing standard support within varied lab testing.
  • Providing customer service.
  • Serving as a team member working with customers and projects.
  • Maintaining databases, forms, documents, and related information.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in lab and office settings. Work is subject to exposure to blood or bodily fluids, chemicals, fumes, gasses, noxious odors, and related items in a lab and environmental setting.
