Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Level III - FPI Inspector to join our Casting Facility located in Dover, New Jersey.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Level III is responsible for training and certifying Level I and Level II inspectors in a specific NDT method. These methods include crystal/etch, visual/UT, fluorescent penetrant, and radiography (film & DR).

If candidate does not already hold Level III certification at time of hire, the candidate is required to complete the Level III certification requirements per BOP 950.004.001 and pass the company's level III examination within established timelines. After company certification, the Level III is required to pass all customer specific Level III examinations and obtain customer certifications as required within established timelines.

This position will be expected to work overtime as required to ensure the customer and production requirements are met.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet's EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EH&S training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in internal, external, and customer audits as applicable.
  • Develop, train, and monitor proficiency of the Level I and Level II NDT inspectors (OJT and Technical).
  • Maintain the training documentation of each Level I and II.
  • Perform L1 and L2 audits for product conformity and process comprehension (this will require overtime and/or coming in on off-shifts to audit employees that work on off-shifts)
  • Review and interpret all incoming customer specifications, blueprints, codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining procedures and processes to ensure adherence to industry and customer requirements.
  • Technique design and approval
  • Review for accuracy product criteria and activity instructions associated with the NDT method.
  • Ensure NDT processes for product criteria are met
  • Ensure NDT inspections for product criteria are met
  • Audit and exercise responsibility making decisions concerning continued processing or work stoppages of product through the NDT operations to ensure NDT processes are held within customer requirement.
  • Perform required calibrations and system checks of responsible department
  • Maintain required documentation and records for specific method as required.
  • Monitor equipment availability and maintain equipment, fixtures, and tools as necessary
  • Help in projects to improve work area
  • Lead R&R studies as necessary.
  • Assist in introducing new technology within the NDT method.
  • Interface with cross-functional team providing technical guidance pertaining to manufacturing for NDT issues
  • Interface with customers and external auditors as needed
  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager and BU Level III.
  • Support Manufacturing as needed with production L1 and L2 duties.

INTERPERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Frequent interaction with Engineering, Manufacturing, Customers, BU level employees, external auditors, and suppliers.

This position may lead other employees.

, Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.
  • Completed Level II certification (NAS 410, ASNT, or similar) for method and must be able to pass the Level III testing requirements.
  • Ability to pass Level III certification exam(s) for the specific method.
  • Adequate Computer Skills (Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Minimum 4 years of Level 2 experience in specific NDT method.
    • NOTE: If candidate has at least 2 years of engineering or science study at a technical school, college, or university then only 2 years of Level 2 experience required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including night and weekends with little advanced notice.
  • Ability to work well with others in team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED

  • Manufacturing environment, frequent standing and walking.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
