VP, Data Innovation & Intelligence

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Zelis Data Intelligence team seeks a visionary, engaging, and results-oriented leader to join a rapid growth tech-enabled healthcare company. The VP, Data Innovation and Intelligence will evangelize and foster a culture of data and analytics innovation across the organization that leverages our Zelis data assets to enhance our existing products or create new value pools. They will identify, strategize, develop, and drive transformative initiatives by partnering with the business units in aligning the overall business strategy with innovative thought leadership.

The VP, Data Innovation and Intelligence will be responsible for leading a cross functional team consisting of Product Owners, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Data Analysts, and Quality Assurance Engineers following Agile development methodologies. This role will work across Zelis with teams from Technology, Product, and Business Operations to conceptualize and deliver on commitments supporting our Data and Technology Roadmaps. The leader will require deep functional, technical, and domain expertise in delivering solutions in a healthcare technology setting.

The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative and collaborative. They will have a sophisticated ability to work with other executive and senior leaders to align, set, adapt, and deliver commitments supporting the most important initiatives enabling the organization's success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a cross-functional team of product owners, data scientists, analysts, and data engineers to deliver new capabilities for data-driven insights and solutions.
  • Foster innovation in data analytics and artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency and business growth.
  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise on the health care domain including provider contracting, pricing, payment, and claims analysis.
  • Oversee the development and management of the domain specific data warehouses leveraging internal and external data sources.
  • Collaborate and build strategies with Vendor Partners to develop and execute a data plan that supports an annual budget in a cost-effective manner.
  • Partner with department executives, leadership and other key personnel to create and execute a strategic roadmap centered around best in class initiatives leveraging data, insights, and trends to implement short and long-term strategies that aligns with our business objectives.
  • Strategize with Business, Product and Technology teams to transform general ideas into workable concepts and solutions.
  • Drive value by working to develop approaches to leverage the organizational data and turn it into useful and intelligent data assets.
  • Monitor external market and competitors to spot trends in innovation and assimilate new technologies and continuous process improvements into department strategy.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding platforms and enterprise technologies that accelerate the delivery of business capabilities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, building and maintaining relationships with technology leaders and Business stakeholders as an effective spokesperson and developer of solutions for complex business challenges.
  • Partner with People and Culture team to develop people priorities and plans, that align with organization strategies. Continually looks for innovative and meaningful solutions to the recruitment, development, and retention of the technology workforce.
  • Leverage influencing and negotiation skills across the company to achieve business goals, cost-effective and innovative shared solutions.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of business, strategy, and product experience in healthcare.
  • Extensive experience in demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative taking, decision-making and creativity in innovating and solving business problems.
  • Extensive experience in managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impact.
  • Expert skill in developing and implementing programs in a leadership role, providing vision and strategic thinking around a full range of data decisions and issues.
  • Expert skill in being adaptive and flexible; acquire, recognize, and apply new information.
  • Expert skills in influencing and building consensus with business partners and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple product and solutions while meeting aggressive release schedules.

EDUCATION

Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
