Short Description

The Physician Liaison (PL) role is dedicated to developing and cultivating relationships through face-to-face interaction with Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and staff.

The PL will be responsible for visiting Cooper employed and independent Primary Care & Specialty Practices to share information on priority programs and services in order to generate new referrals and contribute to market share growth.

The PL develops and implements marketing/sales plans to increase patient volume in CUH services.

Responsible for a geographical territory encompassing specific counties throughout South/Central NJ within a defined territory. Facilitates relationships with providers/staff by direct communication of CUH Services/Programs to generate new referrals and increase volume into the system.

Ability to present, probe, persuade and actively listen to referral source needs and respond with the right mix of service line and product attributes that produce results.

A key responsibility will be working with physicians in Cooper's service area to understand needs, troubleshoot problems, communicate new programs and outreach activities and communicate issues back to health system administration.

Input from the PL is valuable relative to local market dynamics & economics.

Responsible for directly contacting regional physicians in their offices and is expected to spend approximately 70% of their time in the field working independently to share information on service lines and programs to generate new referrals and contribute to market share growth.

The PL will coordinate Outreach visits with Cooper Health providers and travel with them to facilitate introductions.

Develops and maintains database of referring physicians relative to demographics, referral trends and details as appropriate.

Maintains communication with CUH Physicians/Administrators to learn of initiatives and relay Barriers to Referrals.

Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values at Cooper.

This person will understand the practice of medicine including referral relationship, payor requirements and other economic and financial influences.

Develop a working knowledge of Cooper's clinical services, programs and strategic focus.

Knowledge of physicians, their referral patterns and hospital is very helpful.

Knowledge of South Jersey healthcare market is also helpful.


Experience Required

3-5 years previous experience

Physician Relations/Medical Product Sales preferred (Direct relationship sales experience).


Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.


Special Requirements

Qualified candidate must demonstrate personal initiative, poise, confidence, and accept challenge.

They must also possess the ability to interact with physicians, physician extenders and office staff in a professional manner.

Ability to plan, organize and manage resources within prescribed timeframes.

Ability to verbalize product/service knowledge and possess good listening skills.

Candidate should be articulate in oral and written communication and must possess good time management and organizational skills and be customer and results oriented.
