Overview:

The Enterprise Monitoring Engineer is an entry level position that will help to ensure the delivery of high-quality services with a focus and emphasis in the areas of performance, alerting, and observability of critical enterprise applications and infrastructure. Support an advanced monitoring program that diagnoses, and proactivity identifies and corrects events before affecting customer experience and service levels. Ensure that all incidents and problems are investigated, and any gaps are addressed and implemented into the ITSM Framework. This position is a stakeholder facing role and requires that you establish and manage expectations within the business and drive the IT team to achieve those expectations to a high standard. This service includes using enterprise monitoring, correlation and AIOps software to apply solutions to infrastructure and applications to ensure service level agreements are achieved.

Requirements:

  • Support an advanced monitoring program that diagnoses, and proactivity identifies and corrects events before affecting customer experience and service levels.
  • Ensure that all incidents and problems are fully investigated and any gaps within monitoring are addressed and implemented once reviewed.
  • Be responsible for supporting the monitoring solutions for enterprise Infrastructure/Server Monitoring (Linux, Windows), Application, SNMP and Log Monitoring.
  • Manage, configure, and maintain monitoring tools such as Nimsoft, Dynatrace, Big Panda, etc.
  • Create documentation to support the management and maintenance tools as needed.
  • Update the maintenance windows within the monitoring tools.
  • Maintain the monitoring agents such as installs, removals, upgrades, etc.
  • Maintain the monitoring thresholds within the systems.
  • Create Application Performance Monitoring (APM) synthetic scripts.
  • Implement end user session replays for better application monitoring.
  • Ensure proper event correlation.
  • Ensure proper incident categorization, assignment, and effectiveness of resolution data.
  • Analyze tool data and usage.
  • Communicates technical needs to management verbally and via written detailed status reports regarding potential problems and concerns.
  • Reviewing documented processes for accuracy relevance.
  • Assisting with incident management and support requests.
  • Verifying environment stability.
  • Develop reliable, efficient queries that will feed custom alerts and dashboards.
  • Develop dashboards in various tools.
  • Assists in system/application integrations.
  • Knowledge in APM, Synthetics, End User Experience, and Infrastructure monitoring instrumentation as well as distributed tracing capabilities preferred.
  • Other monitoring duties as assigned.
  • Maintain high performing operational service support functions for support of operational "Run" activities for the Global IT Organization.
  • Responsible for compliance, security, and effective delivery of Services throughout the business.
  • Monitor, control and support service delivery; ensuring systems, methodologies and procedures are in place and followed.
  • Provide regular and accurate management reporting on the services performance.
  • Be an ambassador for IT, working across the business to provide effective communication on IT matters and build relationships with other teams to ensure effective dialogue between department.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and adapt.

  • Experience in Infrastructure Operations
  • Ability to work with global team and utilize global best practices for service delivery.
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility including shift and out of hours working.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite

Salary Range for a Enterprise Monitoring Engineer role: $78,000.00-$112,000.00. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include the candidate's qualifications and experience.
