Job Description:

The Department of Business & Public Service at Raritan Valley Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor & Program Coordinator of Paralegal Studies for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The primary purpose of this position is to teach courses in the Paralegal Studies Program, and the holder of this position will also be responsible to coordinate and maintain the ABA approved status of the Paralegal Studies Program at RVCC. A minimum of twelve contact hours of instruction in paralegal program courses (four courses) is required. Release time for program coordination is 3 contact hours per semester.

Essential Duties:

Teaching courses within the Paralegal Studies Program at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.

Designing and assessing instruction, course content and course materials.

Advising and assisting students in completing program requirements.

Meeting ABA re-approval requirements, including ABA reports and site visits.

Managing and administering the Paralegal Studies Program, including the selection of adjunct faculty, when necessary, and the scheduling of courses.

Working with the program advisory committee to ensure the program meets the needs of the legal community.

Developing an annual operating budget in collaboration with the Department Chair and Dean.

Overseeing program curriculum planning and development.

Assisting in the recruitment of new students and maintains regular contact with all program students.

Participating in appropriate marketing initiatives in order to maintain enrollment in the program.

Holding regular meetings with the program faculty and the program advisory committee.

Actively engaging in professional development.


Requirements:

Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school or LLB from a regionally accredited institution.

Minimum of two years' college-level teaching experience required.

Previous experience working with or supervising paralegals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of computer software unique to law offices or legal occupations.

Knowledge of and/or membership in state or local bar associations, paralegal education organizations, and/or paralegal associations.

Experience using technology in the delivery of course content.

Online and/or Hybrid teaching experience.

Prior Community College teaching experience.
