Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

With over 6,300 yards in length, the picturesque, tree-lined, PGA sanctioned course is a par 71 and offers a challenging layout with four teeing areas per hole. Highlights include narrow fairways, fast greens, and water hazards on nine holes. Founded in 1963, the course is located on Rutgers University's Busch Campus in Piscataway. The mission of the course is to ensure that every player enjoys a timely round of golf played on superior fairways and true greens with uncompromising service and instruction.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Golf Course Worker (Casual) for the Rutgers Golf Course.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Greeter Duties: greet players on 1st tee and provide them with course pace of play policy and any other course conditions/circumstances, record 9 and 18 hole playing times and communicate any issues with professional staff and seasonal course rangers/greeter. Position will adhere to all written RU Golf Course guidelines.
  • Starter Duties: greet and assist players upon arrival, assist with transporting golf equipment for players across the street to the staging area, ensure each scheduled reservation gets to 1st tee time to be met by greeter, inform players of pace of play policies in absence of greeter, communicate any issues related to customers or course equipment with professional staff. Position will adhere to all written RU Golf Course guidelines.
  • Ranger Duties: monitor and assist players in RUGC pace of play, ensure that players follow RUGC policies, repair ball marks and fairway divots and general trash cleanup. Must communicate any issues with professional staff and other seasonal rangers/greeterPosition will adhere to all written RU Golf Course guidelines.
  • Practice & Teaching Attendant duites: maintain a safe practice environment by ensuring customers practice off matted hitting area and not grass area in front of hitting stations, pick, clean and sort range balls, monitor practice green to ensure the safe use of area, monitor golf team area for student-athletes and approved use only, open/close Practice & Teaching facility. Must communicate customer or equipment issues with professional staff. Positions will adhere to all written RU Golf Course guidelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of game of golf preferred in all positions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • For Practice & Teaching position you must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
