The Manager, External Reporting and Technical Accounting is a key role within IFF's Corporate Accounting Group ensuring the accuracy of the Company's periodic SEC filings, including quarterly and annual reports (10-Q and 10-K), as well as other external financial reporting requirements. The occupant of this role will also ensure compliance with US GAAP and liaise with key stakeholders in the company to provide technical accounting support including research and preparation of memos. The External Reporting and Technical Accounting group works on a large variety of accounting topics including: revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations and disposal activity, foreign exchange accounting, earnings per share and stock based compensation accounting, treasury and derivative activity, annual impairment tests of goodwill and monitoring of intangible asset recoverability, evaluation of segments and reporting units, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation and review of the company's quarterly and annual SEC filings, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, accounting standards, and disclosure requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accounting, finance, legal, and treasury, to gather and analyze financial and non-financial data for inclusion in SEC filings.
  • Work on specific technical projects such as divestiture accounting, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, lease activity, and adoption of recent accounting pronouncements.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable accounting standards, SEC regulations, and industry best practices related to external reporting.
  • Manage the external reporting process, including timelines, review cycles, and coordination with external auditors.
  • Utilize Workiva and other tools to streamline the SEC reporting process and enhance the efficiency and accuracy of filings.
  • Maintaining the accounting policies and, as applicable, educating the business units on the policies.
  • Preparing and reviewing corporate journal entries associated with technical topics.
Job Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active CPA license is mandatory.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in public accounting or a mix of public/private experience.
  • Previous experience working in external reporting for a large accelerated filer registrant would be preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and FASB technical pronouncements.
  • Experience with Workiva and SAP preferred.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate, discuss issues, and work directly with senior management. Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and relationship management skills are required.
  • Hybrid working environment; in our New York City office two to three times a week.

Base Compensation ($110,000 - $140,000) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
